Morning as per flight time for Lhasa flight transfer to Kathmandu airport for scenic flight of an hour or more to land at Gongar in Tibet international airport, which is close to Lhasa, during air views of world’s highest mountains with Mt. Everest.

As plane lands at Gongar Airport, after going through security and immigration then received by our Tibetan guide and driver for short drive towards eastern side of Lhasa city within great areas populated mostly by Tibetans.

Afternoon relax and take a short walk around Barkhor market square where most of the hotels are located.

    During these two days where you will be engrossed with exciting tour around Lhasa visit of Drefung Monastery, one of largest and important monastery in Tibet, built as university for Tibetan Buddhism in earlier days.

    After Drefung, tour of Jorkhang Temple which is another important and interesting site to visit as it boasts historic importance and tales of old days. The tour concludes for the day visiting Bharkor Bazaar.

    Next morning guide will take you on tour to famous and magnificent Potala Palace, originally built during 640 AD. Potala Palace the landmark of Lhasa and Tibet dominates the Kyuchi or Lhasa valley.

    Afternoon tour of another interesting and important Shera monastery and watch young monks in debates one of the high light of the visit. Rest of the day free for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

      From Lhasa drive towards Shigatse via Gyantse city, journey leads over Khamba-la pass at 4, 800 m high facing wonderful views of Tibetan landscapes, and down to Yamdrok Tsho “The Turquoise Lake” as drive heads towards Karo-La above 5, 050 m high, enjoy views of Nzong-Khangtsa peak.

      As scenic drive enters Gyantse city for tour of Phalkor Monastery, Kumbum Stupa and the local market.

      After Gyantse short drive of few hour to Tibet’s 2nd biggest city after Lhasa, and in Shigatse transfer to a nice hotel.

        Morning from Shigatse drive outside city area heading south to New Tingri or Shegar, driving on Kathmandu / Lhasa highway to cross over highest point of the journey at Gyatsho-la 5, 220 m high and then downhill to Shegar / New Tingri.

        After a brief stop at Shegar continue drive on leaving the main highway to reach North Side of Everest at Rongbuk drive takes you over Pang-la pass rewards panorama of world highest peaks includes Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and adjoining peaks, from here descend to Tashi Dzong village to reach Rongbuk Monastery and its many smaller hermitage caves.

        This holy and remote spot was first introduced to the world in 1920 by 1st British expedition teams of George and Irving Mallory and well-known novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton.At present most of the retreat cells are abandoned with only few small shrines scattered at end of the valley. According to Rimpoche (high priest and saint) of this area, the monastery was first established as a religious site around 250 to 350 years ago.

          From Rongbuk, short drive on local transport of 20-30 minutes to reach at Everest North Base Camp, or one can hike for few hours.(Note: Vehicle are not allowed to enter from Rongbuk to Everest Base Camp, only on special permission with authorized permits, most of the visitor takes horse cart, local motorbike as taxis from Rongbuk or walk to Base Camp which takes approx. 2 hours)
          At Base Camp enjoy incredible views of towering Mt. Everest North Face with other high peaks and return to Rongbuk monastery for drive back on same scenic highway to reach at Shigatse for overnight stop.

            Morning tour of Tashilumpo monastery, traditional seat of Panchen Lama (2nd high after Dalai Lama) the monastery contains a 27 m high gold plated Buddha known as Mytaria (the future Buddha).From Shigatse drive to Lhasa taking different shorter local route to reach back into fabled city in Lhasa for last overnight in Tibet.

              Morning as per flight time for Kathmandu or other destination, guide will transfer you to Gongar airport of an hour interesting drive, after bidding farewell to Tibetans guide and driver board in big aircraft for scenic flight to Kathmandu, Nepal or other destination.

                Best Seasons for Lhasa and Everest base camp tour:
